Human-Computer Interaction Institute

There is more to computer science than just the machines, which is why we put the humans first. The Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) is a hub for innovation, education, and research. We combine design, computer sciences, social sciences, and learning sciences to understand, improve, and create technology in all aspects of life.

Technology is now a ubiquitous part of our daily lives, and the human-computer interaction discipline is more important than ever.

Our HCII Undergraduate Programs

The Human-Computer Interaction Institute offers a variety of HCI programs for Carnegie Mellon University undergraduates to choose from. Our B.S. in HCI, Additional Major, Minor and Concentration in HCI all emphasize the design, implementation, and evaluation of interactive computer-based services and applications.
