Overview

The future of artificial intelligence depends as much on understanding people as it does on building better algorithms. As intelligent systems become embedded in workplaces, healthcare, education, government, and everyday life, there is growing demand for professionals who understand not only what these systems can do, but also how they influence human judgment, trust, behavior, and decision making. The Decision Making and Intelligent Systems minor prepares students to bridge that gap.

Students explore the interaction between human intelligence and artificial intelligence through coursework in decision science, cognitive psychology, behavioral science, and AI. They examine how people and intelligent systems can work together effectively, how trust and decision making are shaped by AI, and how to design technologies that complement rather than replace human judgment. The minor equips students to bring a human-centered perspective to the development, evaluation, and responsible use of intelligent systems, regardless of their primary field of study.

Students may double-count two courses with another major or minor.

The minor consists of six courses, focusing on foundational topics in psychology, decision science, and AI.
