Overview
Students in the Intelligent Environments minor explore how information and energy flow betweeen physical, electronic, and computational spaces, using space and time to make sense of the world.
Just as we shape the environments around us, they in turn shape our experiences and senses, making us mindful of the need to develop responsible, equitable and inclusive environments. Students in the Intelligent Environments minor explore the design and realization of interactive 3D spaces—both physical and virtual—through experimentation, hands-on learning, reflection, and documentation.
Courses emphasize:
- Analytical skills for the visualization and realization of interactive spaces
- Principles of multimodal and embodied interactions
- 3D computer-aided design (CAD) for visualization, simulation, and fabrication
- The cultural context, and social and environmental implications of constructed environments
The Intelligent Environments minor is offered through a collaboration between IDeATe and the Robotics Institute, bringing together expertise from across the university.
