Overview

Every profession requires important decisions. Engineers, physicians, entrepreneurs, policymakers, designers, and scientists all face choices involving uncertainty, competing objectives, and incomplete information. The Decision Science minor provides students with a scientific framework for understanding what makes good decisions and how better decisions can be achieved.

Students learn the core theories and methods of decision science, including decision analysis, behavioral research, experimental methods, and quantitative analysis. They learn to evaluate evidence, recognize high-quality decisions, design better decision environments, and apply these ideas to complex problems in their own discipline. The minor complements a wide range of majors by helping students become more effective decision makers throughout their careers.
